Thank you windows vista for shutting down my computer so I have rewrite the first half of this...grrr.

I went to a meeting last night for an organization called DSWA, Direct Selling Womens Alliance.

http://www.mydswa.org/local_area_chapter_detail.asp?LocalAreaChapterID=61

The link is for my local chapter.

The group focuses on supporting women(and a few men too) who have a home business whether it is with an established company like my Pampered Chef business or Mary Kay or Avon or your own home business. It gives you a new outlet for contacts and possible new business, as well as a different speaker at each monthly meeting.

The ladies I met were funny, friendly and very supportive, several took catalogs from me.

But the most interesting part of the evening was the speaker.

She spoke to us about how our own thinking can limit us and our business.

DId you know that we have a new thought about every 1/30 of a second? (No wonder I can't ever get anything done!) Most of these thoughts are lost, or tucked away in the back of our brains some just random musings but some are actually important to us and our own behaviour.

Almost all of our behaviour is driven by those background thoughts, the ones lurking in the corners of our minds. Which is natural, I mean, if we had to pay attention to every thoguht we had in order to do something we'd be reduced back to a toddler have to think about how tie their shoes. I likened it to what we dancers call "muscle memory" where you have done something so many times before you don't need to think about it to be able to do it. ( I think I need to do that to improve my typing!) Which cna also mess you up if you have suddenly change how you always did it before.

THere's all kinds of stuff crammed in our itty bitty brains:
Facts
Opinions
Beliefs
Judgements
Aspirations
Dreams
Predictions
Past experiences as WE remember them
Stories we tell ourselves about everything

All of these thoughts generate our feelings which can in turn generate more thoughts. The feelings are real no mater if the source of the thought is or not. Feelings then generate some kind of action which in turn generats a result. Even our inaction to teh feeling generates a type of action/result.

But it is up to us to make that: Thought=Feeling=(in)Action=Result into a successful one.

The RULES:
We also have all kinds of rules in our heads that do not apply to our daily life and our business, conditioning we've received all our lives from birth to now. Here's an example:

Which of these numbers is the most different?
1) one
2) thirteen
3) thirty-one

The answer is 2...how many of you did not even LOOK at the numbers on the left? It is form of conditioning, a rule we were given a very young age to not pay attention to certain information when trying to answer a question. And yet how many times have we done that when we needed to pay attention to everything before us?

It is a lack of awarness if you will. And you need to find a way to tap into the awarness of things you are always pushing to the back of your mind. You could be tapping into more choices, more thoughts more information if you just try to be more aware of all you have to chose from.

Awareness: the state of being awake
Information: all come from the past

Combining the two can get you better results.

My Pampered Chef directer has said it several times: what you put into your business is what you will get out of it. If I use that thought as well as what I heard last night I can see that I've not been approaching my business in the direction that would give me the most success. I had all kinds of Dreams and Aspirations, but was not AWARE of all my choices because my THOUGHTS kept pushing them into the background.

I did not work hard enough..I did not pay attention to enough of what my choices were and so I've not been succeeding as I had hoped. I let other thoughts cloud my JUDGEMENT and I held back not thinking of my business truly as a business. There are lots of REASONS for this but in the end it all came down to not be as serious aobut it all as I should have been. And now that I can see that it is time to work on getting rid of all the excess bagage and clear out the negative.

I am a Pampered Chef Independant Consultant, it is my JOB and it is time I started thinking of it as such so it can start helping me get off unemployment and back into helping contribute more to my household.

It is part of my Dreams and Aspirations to succeed at this JOB/CAREER not to have to go back to working for someone else and do what they say; but do what I say to make MY life and my husband's life better for both of us. It is MY choice now..and it is time to get it in gear.

Just as many of you all have jobs, this is MY job and I like it, so I will not act like it is just a pastime or hobby, let it slack off because there is this thing going on or that..unless I want to end up working for some big company again that will mandate to me how much I will make and what I must do for THEM to make it. Sure I may have to go back to an office job at first but I'll be damned If I'm going to give up on this career.

I will NOT apologize for having this business or feel like I'm some kind of telemarketer that's trying to sell you cat handcuffs. What I sell is great stuff and it is worth every penny! AND I am thrilled that I have found a job that lets me set my own hours, that lets me earn free products, trips to England, Disneyworld and other amazing locations. Just for selling products I believe in and enjoy using myself.

Here I am folks:

What Greek Goddess are you?

You are Hestia!
You are Hestia!
You are like Hestia, goddess of the hearth. You have the urge to mediate with logical reasoning when placed in contentious situations. You are also quite good at soothing the nervous soul or resolving the crisis situation. You are cool under pressure, and aim to make the world a more harmonious place with your intervention. You are a great communicator, and can be quite the social butterfly.
How do you compare?

New music to unpack to...

So in the midst of all the chaos of my annoying job, annoying almost former landlord and buying a house I performed one night at the Edwardian Ball(Friday).

That same night Rasputina performed as did Abney Park the Steampunk bad that I'd been hearing about.

Cancan's show went great, aside from an injury, and we could then wander about for the rest of the night which we all did. Leigh and Rob held some seats for us in the balcony. Eventually a group of us settled in up there to watch this "Steampunk band" perform, they looked slick in the their posters and on stage but I was curious as to what they'd sound like. Not convinved that just cause they looked slick they'd sound slick.

What hit me first was the drum beats then guitar and they were off. Slick they looked and fantastic they sounded. As usual the sound mix was not perfect and some of the leads vocals got lost but for me it was tump thump of the beat and then they threw in the fiddle and a little ballet! I was astounded to say the least I had zero expectations so was surprised at how much I did enjoy them. I kept feeling a faint recognition when I heard them but could not put my finger on it until I was drving back home the next day with one of their cds in my player.

It had some Industrial feel and a bit of Goth(but too alive to be that Goth!) some remnants of sounds like NIN and Marylin Manson but what really hit once I figured it out is that much of the music reminded me of some of the best of what you hear at a really good Cirque Du Soliel show. The combinations of ethnic sounds, the drums and guitar keyboards fiddle. Plus many of the songs tell some kind of story whether it was Airship Pirates, Herr Drosselmyers Doll (that's where the ballet bit was btw and I got a bunch cool pictures I'll add later.) there was a strong and interesting narative in every song.

Ryan agreed with me on the sound  I heard and we ended up listeing to the cds I bought over the rest of the weekend while unpacking. It's quite good to keep you moving and feeling energetic. This is a band I'll keep watching for awhile.

The sadest parts of this was that when Rasputina played later Friday night they were not at all as interesting, fun or creative(soundwise and lyrics) as Abney Park. And we all left before they finished.

I'm hearing A LOT of Rebulicans complaining about how Democrats/Liberals are being mean/rude/intolerant to their politcal beliefs/party.

Now please do not take this mean I am not sympathetic to your pain but honestly I've been insulted most of life for either being a woman, for living in San Francisco(the land of the Homos, whatever!), for being a Liberal or all three.

Do I think it is fair to be derided and verbally assaulted for having different views, no. But I have to admit a small part of my brain is saying "Welcome to the club." Now you know how I have felt for many years of my life especially the last 8.

It would be nice if those doing the Republican bashing would think about how much they hated being insulted when it was revealed they were liberal but then some folks right now are very very angry and to some degree scared.

Am I 100% innocent, nope, but I have tried my best to keep it specific to the person or ideals that make me mad and not generalize and assume all Republicans feel the same.

But that little voice does still remain, sorry folks but welcome to the club.

Leaving on a jet.. *ahem* TRAIN!

So after X-mas we usually go up to Oregon to see Ryan's Dad and Sister as well as his Oregon friends. Usually we fly but this year thanks to the economy plane tickets are over $500 each for us to fly up and back.

So for $370.00 we are taking the train..and that's not $370 each that's TOTAL!

I love the train; a number of years ago I went up to Canada by train it was lovely, it was relaxing and the food was delicious.

This will be a shorter trip but still longer than the plane. Although only by a few hours considering how long it takes to go through the airport post 9/11.

I'm looking forward to maybe playing cards with my husband possibly watching a movie and just relaxing and watching the beautiful mountains and snow,  being able to stand up and walk around if we need to, without having to worry about chains for our tires, the next gas fill up or the familar fear of being thousands of miles in the air in a metal tin can!

Thank you Amtrak!

Finally made it out to the Casa Ren Fair this weekend. Highlights are:

Comedia was effing hilarious, I'm sorry I missed Carlos though. :-(  Beautiful and funny songs from the Comedia ladies one of the funniest parts was certainly the ladies last song and the antics happening behind them that I got on video!

Being recorded as the special laugh track for Albion's video shoot.

My husband crawling into our bed Saturday night, he's so cute when drunk.

Snickerdoodles...

My new hat.

Hanging out with Tanya, Robyn, Deb, Monique, Sara and many others...

Telling Pax he's NOT drunk...snerk.

Meeting David, what a sweetie and he had a real education about us crazy fair folk! He, Brian, Tanya, Dominic and I laughed for ages Saturday afternoon!

The bench train from Comedia to the pass house..snicker some people are a terrible caboose!

Ryan got me a hard drive video recorder for an early birthday present so instead of the limitations of mini dvd discs I can record HOURS on the 40 gig drive. Just need to make sure I have enough battery power and an extra battery. But now I can deffinitly get full LORS sets, Music Hall and Seadogs stuff at Dickens with nothing getting cut off! The Zoom is also amazing on the thing sheesh!
